Tempus fugit!

It’s been almost 30 years since I wrote anything personally for public consumption. That was when I was a young reporter for the first Gannett newspaper, the Elmira (NY) Star-Gazette. Since then, the writing has been primarily on behalf of clients in the public relations arena.

But thanks to the young turks on our firm’s staff, and the proliferation of social media, the opportunity has arisen to comment and hopefully provide a valuable perspective on a wide range of issues — including business, politics, public relations, strategic marketing and the media.

Speaking of the media, it’s very disheartening — as a former newspaperman — to see the accelerating reduction in and/or closing of newspapers. Their financial straits are compounded by a declining readership, changing media viewing habits, and a dismal economic and advertising climate. A large contrast to three decades ago.

Time flies.
