by Jason Mollica on March 21, 2011

Welcome to Carr Marketing Communications weekly blog, called “The Three.” These are stories from a unique social media perspective that are impacting people the most at the beginning of the week.

1)   Happy 5th Birthday to Twitter! The social service has changed the way we interact and get information. All Twitter

2)   Social media is giving a voice to uprisings, most recently in Libya. The Daily Gamecock

3)   Bizzy is taking location-based social media to a new level.

The Carr Perspective:

When Twitter first launched on March 21, 2006, there was no way we could have known the impact it would have on the world.  As co-founder Jack Dorsey hit enter on his first tweet that day, it started the wheels in motion to changing how the world talks, gathers and receives information, and affects change.

Twitter has over 175 million registered users and 95 million tweets are written per day. It has a valuation of $7.7 billion. Who thought that two simple words could start millions of people “talking?”

So, “What’s Happening?”
