Titan Wrecking and Environmental Pittsburgh

A 20-story high rise in the heart of Pittsburgh disappeared from the city skyline to cheers and applause during the early morning hour of May 17th, 2009. Even though it was 9 a.m. on Sunday, it felt like a party as people from all over the Pittsburgh area pushed to the edges of the established safety zone to watch as the Penn Circle High Rise was strapped with 450 pounds of explosives and turned to rubble within six seconds.

Titan Wrecking & Environmental – a leading full-service precision demolition and environmental services company with headquarters in Buffalo, N.Y. – was hired to implode the vacant Penn Circle High Rise apartment building in downtown Pittsburgh to help make way for a private economic development project.

Titan sought to raise awareness of its demolition services among private developers in the Pittsburgh, Buffalo and national marketplace by leveraging the implosion of the high rise. Titan enlisted Carr Marketing Communications to create and execute a strategic media relations initiative that targeted the Pittsburgh, Buffalo, national mainstream and business media. The project resulted in live coverage on Fox News and CNN as well as numerous broadcast segments and print articles.
